10.2 Customizing the Agent Features

The ZENworks Adaptive Agent provides the following Asset Management features:

By default, all modules are installed on a device. However, you can uninstall, disable, or enable any of the modules at the Management Zone, device folder, and device levels before and after the agent deployment.

Review the following sections:

10.2.1 Customizing Features before Deployment

The ZENworks Adaptive Agent is deployed with the features selected at the Management Zone level. A selected feature is not installed only if it belongs to a product for which the license has expired or has been deactivated.

At the Management Zone level, you can install, enable, or disable the agent features before:

  • Creating and starting a new deployment task

  • Starting an existing deployment task

  • Downloading or deploying the agent manually

  1. In ZENworks Control Center, click the Configuration tab.

    Configuration tab > Management Zone Settings panel

  2. In the Management Zone Settings panel, click Device Management, then click ZENworks Agent.

  3. In the Agent Features panel:

    • If you do not want to install a feature, deselect Installed next to a feature. The selected feature is not installed on the device. If you choose to deselect all the features, then only the core agent is installed.

    • If you want to install but disable a feature, select Installed and Disabled next to a feature.The disabled feature is not uninstalled from the currently managed devices. The feature is installed on the device, but it is nonfunctional.

  4. To save the changes, click Apply.

    You can now proceed to deploy the agent to a device manually or by using a task.

10.2.2 Customizing Features after Deployment

The ZENworks Adaptive Agent is deployed with the features selected at the Management Zone level. After deploying the agent to a device, you can do any of the following:

  • Change the agent settings configured at the Management Zone level

  • Override the Management Zone settings at the device folder or device level

The new settings are applied to the agent on a device refresh.
