Using NetWare Web Search Server, you can index the file content found on your NetWare server, or you can index the content found on any Intranet or Internet site that can then be searched using the NetWare Web Search Server.
Indexing file or Web server content involves three fundamental tasks:
You use the NetWare Web Search Manager to define collections and build indexes. Steps to Creating a NetWare Web Search Index illustrates these three tasks.

Repeat this process for each new collection you want to add. A collection can include files located in one or more directories on a file server, or files located in one or more directories on a Web server.
Indexing a Web server (or Web site) involves a process known as crawling. The Web Search Server begins indexing files on a Web server at the directory level you specify and continues to index along hypertext links until reaching a dead-end, which occurs when either a linked file cannot be found or when there are no more links defined.
NetWare Web Search Manager is the tool you use to create and manage collections and their associated indexes.
To run NetWare Web Search Manager:
Type HTTPS://domainname:portnumber in your Web browser's address field, where portnumber is the port number of your NetWare Web Manager > press Enter.
HINT: You must use the HTTPS protocol because NetWare Web Manager uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Refer to the NetWare Web Manager Administration Guide for more information.
Under NetWare Web Search Server, click the server name button, where server name is the name of your NetWare Web Search Server.
Refer to the Web Search Manager's online Help for information about creating and managing collections and indexes.
