Each of the Server Software Packages (files with the .cpk extension) included in this support pack contains software updates for a group of ZENworks 6.5 components as defined below.
Installation of a software package requires that the ZENworks 6.5 component to be updated be present on the server. For example, if you are updating the Inventory Agent using zsm651_invagnt.cpk, the software package fails if it does not find the ZENworks 6.5 Inventory Agent on the server.
The software packages contained in the support pack update the following ZENworks 6.5 components:
For Remote Management only, SP1 contains the following files in addition to the software packages:
This is provided as an option for installing the software packages manually per server, rather than using Tiered Electronic Distribution to distribute them. The Standalone Package Processor is required where Policy and Distribution Services agents are not running for both NetWare® and Windows servers. However, it can be used on servers where Policy and Distribution Services agents are running.
Zsm651_remmgmt.ncf, which is used to install the support pack for the Remote Management Agent on NetWare servers.
Zsm651_remmgmt.bat, which is used to install the support pack for the Remote Management Agent on Windows servers.
To manually install the Remote Management Agent .cpk file, see the updated ZENworks 6.5 Server Management Installation Guide available on the Novell documentation Web site.
Zen65sp1.exe and zen65sp1compcd.exe must be extracted near the root of the drive, because they contain directory paths that could exceed the DOS limits. The default extraction path is c:\temp if you double-click an EXE download file. If you right-click or drag an EXE file to unzip it, the download is unzipped where you specify. For the downloaded directory structures, see 2.4 Support Pack Content.
For detailed support pack installation instructions, see ZENworks 6.5 Server Management Support Pack 1 in the updated ZENworks 6.5 Server Management Installation Guide.
Be sure to fulfill these prerequisites before upgrading ZENworks 6.5 Server Management to SP1:
Minimum Requirements: Your target servers and installation workstation must meet the minimum requirements as stated in Installation Machine and Management Workstation Requirements in the updated ZENworks 6.5 Server Management Installation Guide.
Novell iManager (optional): Requires iManager 2.0.2, 2.5, or later installed on at least one NetWare, Windows, Linux*, or Solaris* server with the ZENworks 6.5 Policy and Distribution Services plug-ins. However, installing the ZENworks plug-ins to iManager 2.5 on Solaris is not supported.
You can upgrade ZENworks 6.5 Server Management to SP1 in the following ways:
SP1 Upgrade Wizard: You can upgrade all ZENworks 6.5 Policy-Enabled Server Management components using the upgrade wizard contained in the SP1 download. Run winsetup.exe to access the installation menus.
(Optional) If you have iManager 2.0.2/2.5 installed, and you are running the SP1 upgrade wizard, select the following menu options to install the updated iManager plug-ins: Server Management > Web-Based Management Components.
Linux/Solaris Script: Use an Xterm window to run the text-based installation script that is provided in the SP1 download. Run:
Download_path\ZSM\ZfS\TedPol\Linux\zfs-pds-upgrade
Download_path\ZSM\ZfS\TedPol\Solaris\zfs-pds-upgrade
and select the upgrade option.
Server Software Package: You can upgrade the following ZENworks components using the appropriate .cpk files contained in the SP1 download file:
IMPORTANT: Where you have ZENworks 6.5 servers installed in a cluster that you want to upgrade to SP1, you cannot use a Server Software Package.
For more detailed SP1 upgrade information, see ZENworks 6.5 Server Management Support Pack 1 in the updated ZENworks 6.5 Server Management Installation Guide.
The following sections contain new issues for ZENworks 6.5 SP1.
The following sections list the issues that are new in SP1 for Policy and Distribution Services.
If your cluster is running on servers with slow hardware, or on servers heavily loaded with other software running, the cluster can be set off-line by Cluster services if it detects that not all commands in the script completed successfully. For example, ZENworks might not load within the default timeout of 25 seconds.
Workaround: To restore the cluster resource and reload ZENworks, enter the following command from the server console:
cluster online cluster_resource_name
For more information, see TID10096473.
The SP1 Companion CD download package includes the following Server Software Packages:
These cannot be used to upgrade clustered servers to SP1 for the following reasons:
The Manual Distribution Wizard has been enhanced in SP1 so that re-baselining of Manual Distributions is no longer necessary when upgrading. Therefore, Distributions created in version 6.5 of the Manual Distribution Wizard do not work in SP1.
Workaround: After upgrading to ZENworks 6.5 SP1, re-create your manual Distributions using the updated version of the Manual Distribution Wizard.
For NetWare and Windows servers, the working directory is found by the Manual Distribution process. However, Linux server file systems are not recognized.
Workaround: Set up a share in Samba for the Linux servers. The Manual Distribution process then recognizes the Linux server's working directory as it would for a Windows server.
ZENworks 6.5 SP1 Distributors cannot successfully send encrypted SP1 Distributions to ZfS 3.0.2 External Subscribers. However, SP1 Distributors can successfully send encrypted SP1 Distributions to regular ZfS 3.0.2 Subscribers.
After upgrading NetWare Subscribers to SP1 from ZENworks 6.5, or from ZfS 3.0.2 via ZENworks 6.5, encrypted Distribution support is lost for the upgraded Subscriber servers.
Workaround: Reboot the upgraded NetWare Subscriber servers. Then, the encrypted Distributions can be extracted.
When installing iManager 2.5, at the point the "Processing Settings" message is displayed, the NetWare server being installed to abends. However, if Java* is unloaded before installing iManager, the server does not abend.
Workaround: To install iManager 2.5, unload the Server Management processes, which require Java to be loaded.
When NetWare 6.5 servers are upgraded to SP3 (NetWare OES), a newer JVM* is installed that is incompatible with the zencommon.jar file in ZENworks 6.5, so the Server Policies and Server Software Package functionalities no longer work. Therefore, an exception is given when trying to upgrade OES servers to ZENworks 6.5 SP1 using the Server Software Package.
Workarounds: Choose one of the following options:
1. Send the zencommon.jar file contained in the SP1 download as a File Distribution to the target OES servers to replace the older zencommon.jar file with the SP1 version.
2. Restart ZENworks on the OES servers so that it recognizes the new zencommon.jar file.
3. Send the zsm651_polydist.cpk file as a Software Package Distribution to those OES servers to successfully upgrade them to SP1.
The following sections list the new issues in SP1 for Server Inventory.
From a Novell ConsoleOne® installation having ZENworks 6.5 SP1 Inventory snap-ins, you cannot invoke the Data Export utility for a ZENworks 6.5 Inventory database by clicking the Tools menu > ZENworks Inventory > Data Export.
Workaround: In ConsoleOne, right-click the ZENworks 6.5 Inventory database object, then click Data Export.
The following sections list the new issues in SP1 for Remote Management.
If a managed server has multiple monitors, a remote session from a management console manages only the primary monitor of the managed server.
On a NetWare 6.5 cluster, if a password is set using the ZENworks 6.5 Server Management GUI installation, then upgrading RConJ Agent using a ZENworks 6.5 Server Management SP1 Software Package Distribution fails to load the RConJ Agent. However, the RConJ Agent files are updated.
For loading the RConJ Agent, use the ZENworks 6.5 Server Management SP1 GUI installation.
The following sections list the new issues in SP1 for Management and Monitoring Services.
If your preferred RMON agent for the segment is a Netware server, unload and reload the Traffic Analysis Agent on the server.
Update the ZfS 3.0.2 agent to ZfS 3.0.2 IR2 and restart the agents on the Windows 2000 server.
In a Trend View, if an Adapter number has "E" in the string followed by numeric value, then "E" is taken as an exponential in the string and zeros are displayed as its numeric value. For example, Adapter number 1 008048134E10 is displayed as 1 0080481340000000000.
