The information in this readme pertains to Novell ZENworks Application Virtualization, the product that lets you convert applications that run on Microsoft Windows into self-contained virtual applications.
The following information is included in this Readme:
The following major changes have been added to ZENworks Application Virtualization 8.0:
Support for the streaming of virtualized applications from a network share or a Web server.
Support for installing on 64-bit platform and virtualizing 64-bit applications.
This section contains information about issues that might occur in ZENworks Application Virtualization:
There are several issues in ZENworks Application Virtualization 8.0 regarding support of virtualized applications on 64-bit Windows machines.
Running the virtualized 32-bit Microsoft Office 2003 Professional Enterprise application is not supported on the following 64-bit platforms:
Windows 2008 64-bit
Windows 7 64-bit
Windows Vista 64-bit
The application has been removed from the default application creation template on machines running the 64-bit platform.
Running a virtualized 32-bit Microsoft Office 2007 application on a 64-bit platform also fails.
Although application virtualization of the Citrix ICA Demo 11.100.0.0 application is supported on the Windows Vista 64-bit platform, it is not supported on the Windows XP 64-bit platform.
Running the virtualized Windows Internet Explorer 7 application on a Windows 7 64-bit machine is not supported.
Publishing ZENworks Application Virtualization bundles to a ZENworks Configuration Management Zone on a machine running the Windows XP 64-bit platform is not supported.
There are several issues in ZENworks Application Virtualization 8.0 related to its use with ZENworks Configuration Management.
(Fixed in v8.0.1)If you build a virtual application and then click on the ZENworks Application Virtualization control panel, you can configure and save the correct ZENworks Configuration Management zone credentials, but these details are not properly saved to the ZENworks Application Virtualization .xappl file1. This condition causes an error when you attempt to publish the application to a ZENworks Configuration Management zone. You are prompted to supply the zone credentials again before the bundle can be published.
To work around this issue, save the configuration before you publish the ZENworks Configuration Management bundle.
1Xenocode Virtual Application configuration
(Fixed in v8.0.1) Because the ZENworks Application Virtualization import wizard does not recognize some predefined macros as part of a ZENworks .axt (that is, a snAPPshot Application Object Template) file, several errors are generated when the import occurs.
Testing has shown that even though these errors occur, the import of the .axt is successful and is virtualized correctly.
(Fixed in v8.0.1) If you build a virtual application using the option on the ZENworks panel of the control console, and then you copy the application to a Windows 7 or Windows 2008 64-bit machine where the ZENworks Configuration Management Agent is installed, the virtual application fails when launched, displaying the following error:
This application can only be run on devices registered with a ZENworks zone.
To work around this issue, In the Windows Registry, copy the contents of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{A6BB0521-9525-4647-848E-62A02EF90C36}key to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{A6BB0521-9525-4647-848E-62A02EF90C36}key.
If you build a virtual application using the
option on the ZENworks panel of the control console, and then you copy the application to a machine where the ZENworks Configuration Management Agent is installed, the virtual application might fail when launched, displaying the following error:This application can only be run on devices registered with a ZENworks zone.
To avoid this issue, make sure that you save the ZENworks configuration settings (that is, changes made on the ZENworks panel of the console and stored in the *.xappl file) before you build the application. To save the changes, click > .
It is possible that Safari version 4.0.4 might fail after you have created the virtual application if the virtual application is not configured correctly. Please make sure that you follow these steps exactly when you build the application:
Select
(Option 2) in the Configuration Wizard.Run the wizard and provide all required information, but do not build the application.
Modify the .xappl configuration file by setting the enhancedDEPCcompatibility attribute to True.
Build the application.
Close ZENworks Application Virtualization, then delete the Safari sandbox.
Run the virtualized Safari application.
