IMAP is a protocol that provides access to and manipulation of electronic mail messages that are stored on a server. IMAP includes operations for creating, deleting, and renaming mailboxes, checking for new messages; permanently removing messages; setting and clearing flags; and searching and filtering message attributes and texts.
Support for the GroupWise implementation of IMAP is based on RFC 2060, version 4rev1 and RFC 3501. For more information on the specification, see RFC 2060 and RFC 3501.
Note that IMAP does not specify a protocol for sending messages (or message delivery). For this functionality, use a mail transfer protocol such as SMTP.
IMPORTANT:Unless otherwise marked, the features in GroupWise IMAP will work with GroupWise 8 and later versions.
