The Import Project (from Version Control Server) wizard now lets you browse your
version control repository directly. All you need to do is provide the URL for
your server and you can browse projects and choose the one you want to
import.
When you get an older revision of your project from history, it is easy
to make inadvertant changes. You now have the option to revert
those changes before updating to the latest version so that you can avoid
unecessary conflicts.
When you select an object in the Version Control view, they are also
automatically selected in the Outline view. This should help you
to navigate to the object in the Outline view and perform actions that are not
available in the Version Control view.
The Expand All/Collapes All buttons make it easy to expand and collapse the children of the
selected item, or of all items.
The Revert confirmation page now shows a list of files that are being
reverted so you can make sure you are reverting the files you want.
The Version Control view supports multiple selection so you can commit
or update multiple objects at the same time.
There are two documents that can help you better use version control with Designer 3.0. The first is
entitled "Version Control Best Practices" and it includes some tips
and best practices on using version control with Designer. The second document is entitled "Version
Control with Subversion and Identity Manager Designer." This document gives more background on Subversion to help
you make certain decisions, such as why you should choose one protocol over the others.
