Configuring ConnectionYou can configure an LDAP connection to an Active Directory system so that you can discover its Domain Controllers. To configure the connection, edit an Active Directory application and select the Connectivity page. You can then fill out the LDAP authentication information. (By the way, for documentation purposes, most other systems in Designer have an LDAP Connectivity page now, too). As you tab from the Host field to the User field, it will automatically build up a full user context that you can modify.Discovering ControllersOnce this is done, you can right-click on the Active Diretcory application and select Discover Domain Controllers. If it finds any, it will lay them out and expand the Active Directory application as a container.Domain Controller InformationInformation about each controller will be loaded into the Modeler. You can see this information by editing the Domain Controller object and selecting the AD Domain page. As long as the LDAP connection information is filled out, you can always hit the refresh button to re-read the information from that system. |
From within Designer, you can view the desktop of the machine that is running your applications and remote control
that desktop by interacting with it. This is very helpful if you wish to administer users or your applications
with the native tools of that system all from one spot. This will all be hosted in an embedded editor inside of Designer. You can have multiple remote control sessions with different systems all open at the same time. Configuring the ConnectionFor this to work, the machine that is running your application needs to have a VNC server installed and running (which you can usually download for free off the Internet). You can easily configure any system or resource in Designer for this feature. Just edit any application or resource and select the Connectivity Page and the VNC tab and fill out the authentication information.Customizing the ViewerAt the top of the desktop viewer is a toolbar that lets you configure the following:
|
You can right-mouse click on an eDir-to-eDir item and select "disconnect". This will create two new eDirectory
apps and redirect each driver to their respective app, so that there is no longer an eDir-to-eDir relationship anymore.
A new driver is not created and no data is lost; it will keep the same drivers.
The eDir-to-eDir tool on the Modeling palette is no longer needed; instead, all you need to do now is
just drag a line between vaults (or driver sets) and it will automatically know to create an eDir-to-eDir connection.
A toolbar has been added to the Modeler; this makes it easier to get at often-used
features, reduces the size of the context menus, and makes Modeler help
and tutorial information more accessible.
The functionality on this toolbar is the following:
|
If you select a Driver Set or Identity Vault, you can start, stop, re-start, and get status information on all
associated drivers.
This is accessible directly from the the modeler's toolbar or the right-mouse popup menu (under the Live sub-menu).
